What is Malnutrition?
Malnutrition is a general term that is originated from term “mal” meaning abnormal and “nutrition” meaning eating healthy and balanced diet. This term thus includes both undernutrition and overnutrition. Undernutrition occurs when the diet lacks in one or more nutrients leading to an abnormally low nutritional status. Overnutrition occurs due to excess of one or more nutrients (imbalance of essential nutrients) resulting nutritional status more than normal. However, in common usage, malnutrition is often used to indicate undernutrition
